Sorry for the late updates but progress has been slow lately.  The front nose piece was in rough shape and full of old mud plus it needed a few holes welded up.  Hopefully I will have to time to start knocking out parts quickly.

More to come soon…

Well after a busy couple of months, the project has started up again. There’s been a lot of nice muscle cars hitting the roads lately but at the same time it’s only 45 degrees today and I see the snow line considerably dropped on the mountains. I’m sure by July it should warm back up and the rocks will be cleaned off the roads.

The other night took all the painting & sanding materials, and a couple body parts, over to Kelan’s. I’m so excited to get this project moving forward! Anyway, no pictures, just an update.

This past week I made a big order from Classic Industries while they were having a Saint Patrick’s Day special! I figured I needed to get a weatherstrip kit, painter’s gasket/seal kit, a grill to replace my broken one and kits to fix my door hinges.

Here’s what was included in the order:

67-68 CAMARO RUBBER STOPPER KIT – K88065
68 CONVERTIBLE W/STRIP KIT W/WIDE MOLDING – R5117
68 CAMARO STD PAINT SEAL SET – K926
67-69 HOOD-TO-COWL SEAL – 3927464
68 CAMARO STD CENTER GRILL – 3914772
67-68 CAMARO GRILL FASTENER SET – K559
HOOD LOUVER GASKET MAT’L – 3949698
68-69 LOWER DOOR HINGE REPAIR SET – K554
68-79 DOOR HINGE REPAIR SET – K401
REPLACEMENT HOOD HINGE SHOCKS 260 LBS – CB16

After pricing the paint out at the local paint store Kelan and I decided to go with House of Kolor and mix our own blend. Kelan is very confident that we can achieve the exact result we’re looking for. So, the paint supplies are now all accounted for, except the red and blue pearls which were on back order at Coast Airbrush.

Some of the painting supplies showed up yesterday from TCP Global, woop woop!  Now it’s time to order the paint.

This past weekend we sat down and discussed a bunch of specific elements I wanted my car to have.  My friend Kelan, who is painting the car, is pretty good with photoshop and came up with a few quick mockups to help give us ideas. Some of the criteria we ended up with after deliberation:

  1. Grey/Black top combo
  2. Custom Stripe & 383 emblem (really liked the red pin stripes)
  3. SS hood
  4. Front bumper delete
  5. Shaved door locks & antenna (going to leave door handles though)
  6. Blacked-out grill area
  7. Body colored side markers
  8. Chrome rocker panel and wheel well trim delete
  9. 18″ Coy C-57/Boyd Magneato wheels
  10. 2″ drop
  11. Front & rear spoilers

Here’s two mockups, the first is my favorite as it has most of the criteria we ended up with.

Here are a few pictures of tearing down my Camaro. The car has been in this state for the past couple of years.  My New Year’s resolution is to get my car painted and moveable under its own power.
